You can turn on closed captions at the bottom of videos you watch on TV and online. But providing closed captions in real time in the classroom has been harder to pull off — until now!

Google Slides has a new feature — live closed captions. They transcribe your speech on the fly and display it at the bottom of the screen.

This is great for …

• Students who have hearing disabilities
• Students whose first language isn’t English
• Students in a noisy room
• Students who like to process ideas through written word

It’s easy to activate live closed captions, and there are lots of ways to use them in class.
